My Dad is Better Than Your Dad

….I just had a really good talk with my dad. He is so wise. And I just have to express how much I love and appreciate all that he does for  me! I truly feel like I have the best dad in the world!! I would like to share one of my favorite memories of him. It was when he went with me to San Francisco so I could go to a tryout (American Idol…obviously I didn’t make it in or you would have heard of it). He is a very busy man, yet he took the time out of his very busy work schedule to go with me to the tryout because he knew how important it was for me to go! He took care of me the whole time, helped me make some bright yellow signs, listened to me practice my song choices over and over, stood with me in line for HOURS in the wee hours of the morning, and was there to give me a big hug and a “that’s life!” talk when I didn’t make it into the show. BUT one of the best memories I’d like to share with you was when we were on this same “vacation” and our way to Santa Cruz Boardwalk. We were going there to see the sights, to ride the rides together, and get a funnel cake with powdered sugar and strawberries! On our way through this winding road our favorite song came on! So we put the top down of the convertible we rented, turned the volume way up, and blasted our song: “Don’t Stop Believin'”! We blasted that as loud as the radio would go and we sang along with our most booming voices and waved our arms around in the wind like we owned the world. Together. This was also the song we sang and danced together during my Daddy Daughter dance at my wedding reception. I honestly love him so much and I’m so grateful for his wise advice he frequently gives me. I seriously have the best dad ever. No battle. Here’s a picture of us on my wedding day! It was one of the few times that day I got teary-eyed! I love you, Dad! Thank you for being the best dad in the world and the “cool dad” growing up. You’re still a cool guy and you will always be a cool guy. 😉
