20 Apr Hanging Garden How To

It might not look like much, but that right there on the side of the shed is my new hanging garden!! I am going to try my hand at a green thumb this year, wish me luck!! If you want to make your own, here’s how:
I made the hanging garden out of rain gutters. I bought all my supplies at Home Depot, and they even cut my gutters to size and drilled some water-drain holes in the bottom. So when I got home, all I had to do was assemble my garden! Once putting on the gutter ends, I waterproofed the edges with clear silicone. I fastened metal braces to each edge, and used metal cables to attach each tier together. I clamped aluminum stoppers to cinch all the cables together (I would recommend using the smallest aluminum stoppers as possible, mine were really thick and SO hard to clamp down). And the last step is to put some hooks into a shed, wall, or other surface (or you could hang it from a fence with wall hooks) to hang your garden!
Original idea found from Pinterest HERE.
This year, I’m planting (in order of planting time) varieties of lettuce, yellow onions, green onions, bell peppers, jalepenõs, cucumbers, green & yellow zucchini! I wrote the names of each plant on little popsicle sticks so I wouldn’t forget where I planted each seed.
If you have questions, let me know, I’d be more than happy to answer any that you have!
