14 Feb No-Bake, 10-minute Strawberry Shortcake

Perfect if you forgot Valentine's Day was today, or if you just want a delicious dessert in a jiffy, I wanted to share with you this quick, no-bake recipe that takes less than 10 minutes! Now, this is ALL contingent on if your grocery store has individual strawberry shortcakes like mine did. I found a package of 6, but shhhh, let's tell Tanner I just made the cakes from scratch with all the free time I have...

11 Feb Favorite Tan Sofas

I have had a lot of people ask me about my tan couch. I always feel so bad, though, because I snagged it for a bargain from a store as they discontinued it–so it's not available anymore! My couch pictured below right here:   Wanna know a secret? It's actually not leather. I know! You can't really tell! It's technically a manufactured leather, aka, a micro-suede made to look and feel like soft leather. Which means it was cheaper! Someday I'll upgrade to a big-girl sofa that's real leather. But since I can't find this sofa anywhere anymore, I wanted to give you...

08 Feb Pipe Light Giveaway

I did another project in connection with The Home Depot this week and made a pipe light! A full step-by-step is available to read HERE. It was really empowering to create a light from scratch. Working with electrical wires seems very daunting, but all in all, it was quite easy! Head to THD to see other amazing pipe ideas.   GIVEAWAY!! But why make a light when you could win one instead? I'm giving away the light fixture that I created and some matching pipe hooks!* How cute are these pipe hooks? They would look great anywhere, especially mounted on wood like this example.   To enter to win a...

07 Feb DIY Wooden Frame Hack

Why is it IMPOSSIBLE to find a basic wooden frame that is unstained so you can stain it whatever color you want? I found wooden frames that were fancy with bevels and looked elaborate, but my style is modern and clean. I couldn't find anything that matched my style that was unstained. And I also didn't want to learn how to create my own frames from scratch. So, I created this little hack-project to turn any frame (plastic or wood) to a stainable, wooden frame! Sounds impossible, but I assure you it's not! Supplies: Any basic, non-beveled frame, I used this frame, size 24"...

07 Feb Best 7-Layer Dip Recipe Ever

Made this for the Super Bowl yesterday and it was a huge hit! It's similar to other 7-layer dips, but better. Just trust me on this one. It's a recipe I received from my mom who has been using it for a very long time. It evokes nostalgic memories of growing up, watching BYU "away" games at home with my Dad. Funny how certain foods take you back. [arve url="http://seekingalexi.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/Seeking-Alexi-7-Layer-Dip-Recipe.mp4" align="center" maxwidth="1000"/] Recipe: Layer the following 7 ingredients in a clear dish in the following order: 1 can refried beans, guacamole (3 smashed avocados, pico de gallo, like, s&p all to taste), secret...

03 Feb Cheers to 6 Months

A few weeks ago, my boyfriend Tanner told me to get ready for our date and dress warm. I had no context, but he wanted to surprise me with something fun.  Turns out, he drove us out by the Salt Flats and we set off Chinese sky lanterns!!   It was such a thoughtful gesture, because ...

01 Feb 3 Reasons You Should Learn Adobe Illustrator

For those of you who don't know yet, I have an online course on Brit + Co to learn Adobe Illustrator! It's slated towards beginners, but is still a great course for intermediate-levelers. And what better thing to do than learn a new skill in 2017? Hard to believe it's already February, feels like the year is already running away from us! So if you set a goal to learn something new this year, there's no better time than now! Aubrey Rojas wrote an awesome article about why you should learn Adobe Illustrator, and it was so good, I wanted to share...
