How I Got Started
Hi friend! I started Seeking Alexi because Home Depot wanted to collaborate with me out of the blue. After that first “real” DIY project, I was hooked…and now I can’t stop! As you seek help with your DIY/home projects, look no further than “Seeking Alexi.”
The scariest thing for me was walking into a project having a vision, but not knowing the first thing about how to execute it. Lexi had complete confidence in me, and gave me direction on specific materials and tools needed to finish the project. She shopped with me and initially showed me what to do, and then let me take on the rest of each piece while she supervised.
I was able to really learn hands-on how to build a garden box from scratch, an AC unit cover, and how to hang outdoor string lights, in addition to recommending finishing touches and how to stylize and complete the project. I learned how to select materials based off of the object that I was building, and figuring dimensions. I learned how to use a circle saw, jigsaw, staple gun, pocket screw jig, as well as an impact drill.
She used her experience and expertise to direct me on what to buy, how to do it, and how I can implement the skills I learned to do other projects on my own! My favorite part about the project was seeing everything come together. I couldn’t believe my eyes once the garden box and AC unit cover were complete.
I would definitely recommend hiring Alexi to help you with your projects! Learning how to do something yourself is invaluable, and means that much more when you know you’ve done it yourself!
I moved into a new home in San Antonio in October and the house was in need of a serious makeover. Purse strings were tight so my husband and I decided to focus on our master bathroom as our first big project.
I found SeekingAlexi on Instagram and I was immediately drawn to her creative mix of textures and colors in her designs. Her collaboration with Home Depot was most inspiring to me as she was able to clearly explain in pictures, words, and videos how she tackled a bathroom makeover in one weekend. Her design is ACCESSIBLE, which is so important for someone like me. I’m on a tight budget, but I know where Home Depot is and that their prices are reasonable.
I follow so many different interior designers on Instagram, but SeekingAlexi is the only one that I’ve seen thus far that can make such subtle, affordable changes look so chic and luxurious. The final result of my bathroom was fantastic. A new cabinet for additional storage, a bright neutral paint for the walls, new modern light fixtures, a rug bursting with color (to hide ugly tile we can’t replace just yet), and lastly a bamboo shade made for a stunning change.
I love Seeing Alexi’s projects, I’ve been following her for a little while now, and I always get excited to see what new project she’s been tackling! Seeing what she’s working on gives me ideas and inspires me to go and do it myself. Nothing is more fulfilling and empowering than the feeling of learning how to do something new, and doing it yourself!
